This is a typical leaf warbler in appearance. It is a small passerine that is insectivorous. It was formerly placed in the "Old World warbler" assemblage, but now belongs to the new leaf-warbler family Phylloscopidae.

How To Identify

It is a small, inconspicuous passerine bird measuring about 12–14 cm; its plumage tends towards muted greens and olive tones, which aids camouflage within dense shrubbery.

Habitat

It inhabits deciduous and mixed forests, woodland edges, and scrubland across the temperate and subtropical regions of Asia, from the Himalayas to Southeast Asia.

Behaviour

This warbler is an active forager that gleans insects from foliage while moving restlessly through the canopy, often hanging upside down in acrobatic displays.

Did You Know?

The Greenish Warbler exhibits remarkable vocal dialects across its range, with populations in different regions singing distinctly different songs, making it a classic example of cultural evolution in birds.
