The Eurasian Golden Oriole is a striking songbird with brilliant golden-yellow plumage and jet-black wings that make it unmistakable among European birds, though it stays hidden in leafy treetops where its loud, flute-like song is often heard before it's seen. This migratory species arrives in Europe each spring from African wintering grounds and favors open woodlands and parks where it feeds on insects and fruit high in the canopy.
